New Blog

I’ve decided to do another blog in another style.

Her it is:

buzzyday.wordpress.com

Hope you like it !

The reason is basically because I have learned that IB really gives you no time to write about your personal life. Analysis is the only thing you will have time to write down…

Sad discovery I have to say.

The first day of another 365 days journey around the sun

TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY!!!

Thank you for all the wishes 😀

And THANK YOU Giorgio for the 6th chapter!!

I woke up normally and had breakfast. Then I opened the present I knew what was, a phone! Lg p500 Optimus One. I think it’s pretty good, even if it’s not as expensive as the blackberry and iPhone.

I ate lunch and then me, my mother, my father and my grandpa (who came yesterday) (my brother and sister left saturday to Norway) went to a Spa !!

http://www.boetfort.be/pages/home.php?lang=en

It was soo relaxing with thermal baths, hammam (outside), jacuzzi, swimming pool, music sauna and light therapy. I also had a shoulder/back/neck and facial massage. Best thing I could get, I love my parents for knowing exactly what would be perfect 😀

i also got a cosmetic purse, a scarf, a jacket, some money and a book to learn Spanish ahaha. I am very ambitious to learn it 🙂 And then I want to learn Italian 😉

I had some pasta over there as well and now I’m home. I am really really tired and can’t wait to sleep!!

Thanks for an awesome day everyone!!

Bad Excuses are Worse than None

Therefore, I’m not gonna give any excused for not having been blogging the last days…

I’m getting better and better, not so sick any more 🙂

The last days I’ve been working pretty hard for school in order to finish everything before the break ! I had to make an essay making comments to “We don’t see things as they are, but as we are” and how it relates to perception. TOK really makes people crazy haha. I also had my Theatre Arts oral presentation where I talked in 10 minutes about the London trip. A lot of work as well! But it turned out pretty well. I’m so happy my teacher is preparing us for the real 30 min presentation we will have next year. Experience really is the key to success.

The teachers want to grade your work over the break so that they can spend a lot of time on it, while we, the students, have to suffer to get it all done before! And then of course we get things to do over the break as well… But I have to admit I don’t have that much work to do 🙂

Today it’s Halloween !! I don’t celebrate it so much here in Belgium, but when I loved in Norway, my mum always used to decorate the whole house and we’d have lots of candy for the kids 🙂 I also used to go trick-or-treating, I loved it! The best part was when you knocked on a door and you didn’t know whether a grumpy grandmother would open it and shout out you “We don’t celebrate Halloween in this house! Don’t you see that the lights are off !!” And then sometimes there was dogs in the house, that was really scary as well (if the dog was big..) I have good memories, so now I’ll make it a good experience for the kids coming to my house as well!

Thursday I went bowling with my scout friends, and they had made the whole place a halloween house ! Leaves everywhere and witched hanging around 🙂 I wonder how it is to be in America during Halloween… Do you celebrate it where you live?

Today I’m going to see an important handball game and then I have a game myself 🙂 I hope we do better than last time…

Alone in bed

I’m still sick, and decided not to go to school today. But I didn’t get to do any work either, I’m sick. But I went to rehearsal, even if I’m sick, cause it was at four, I was feeling a little better and really felt I shouldn’t miss any blocking.

I worked on my Theatre Oral presentation, I cut it from 4000 words to 1400… Yeah, that was pretty hard. It’s like I wrote an extended essay haha.

Thats my day. All I want to say.

The coughing room

I guess the coughing room would be the best description of my bedroom right now… Tissues everywhere and constant sneezing and coughing.

I don’t even have any voice left.

I still went to school again, but it was worth it. I had lots of important subjects, so now I don’t need to catch up from that… Tomorrow anyhow, I’m not going to go.

In religion class today we discussed what the origin of religion is. Where do you think it comes from? What is the oldest religion on earth? I personally think it comes from experience. Apparently my opinion is based on the sociological approach coming from Emile Durkheim… It states that every-one has a religion, which in my opinion is true, and starts with experience and perception. A person coming from another religion will not understand yours. Then there is the physical approach that is closely related which says that religion comes from a psychological need, a desire that prevents us from doing bad things. I’m not sure I totally agree with that, but it sure is related. On the complete other side is the evolutionary and metaphysical approach. The evolutionary one comes from James Frazer, and he made a distinction between magic and religion. Humans realized they didn’t have control of all forces and religion therefore came out from animism; the believe in spirits and ancestors. The metaphysical (Herbert Spencer) approach states that religion is a part of the human’s mental process. Religion is a metaphysical speculation of the unknow.

Sorry to bore you with this, but I find it quite interesting. What approach do you think is the right answer to where religion comes from?

My school is actually one of the very few IB schools that have religion in addition to the other subjects… But it is an interesting study so I don’t really mind, except it’s an extra subject to study for the exams…

After school I had rehearsal. It was actually a lot of fun! (Even if my voice cracked all the time). We blocked the rest of Summer Love and the director is soo good ! He knows how to do everything just like that. He just uses his brain and comes up with the perfect choreography!

Anyway, I got home ate and then I had to get out again! I had to choose between handball and Amnesty International. Since I was sick and Amnesty is only once a month, I went to the Amnesty meeting. We discussed the Candle Campaign that we’re going to do. Basically we sell candles in public in order to make money. I am now also responsible for the ooh no. What do you call it ! It’s when you execute a person that has done a bad thing… Whatever, if you understand what I’m talking about feel free to share any facts on it with me !

Now I’m sitting here by myself, in my room, sneezing and coughing with a hurting throat. You don’t wish you were me ! Trust me. (Even if I’m not going to school tomorrow hehe… 😉

And you know how much I love pictures of nature so…

Have you realized how hard it is to take pictures of a flame?

Quote of the day:

“Skipping isn’t for everyone.  Getting out of our comfort zones for a momentary skipping escape takes guts.  It is much more difficult than many realize.  Our ego likes to feel in control and is afraid of what others will think…. When we can learn to simply observe our ego’s fear and then choose to skip on despite it, we develop the spiritual strength necessary for inner peace.”  ~Kim Corbin

Hope you’re feeling good! If you are, then think about those who are not and think how lucky you are! If you are sick, you can suffer with me 🙂

Sick.

Sick of school, sick of friends, sick of home, sick of life, physically sick, sick of parties, sick of music, sick of silence, sick of love, sick of phones, sick of computers, sick of book, sick of teachers, sick of tests, sick of being sick, sick of writing, sick of the internet, sick of sleeping, sick of everything. Sick.

Yep, you guessed right; I’m sick. My nose is completely blocked and my head exploding. I hate being sick. And I’ve got so much to do as well!  I don’t know what to do… Should I stay home from school tomorrow? If I do, hopefully I’ll get better, but if I miss school I will miss classes and have even more stuff to catch up with ! I didn’t do any homework this week-end except for the Magic and Religion Essay ! Maybe thats why I’m sick, because I’m stresses. Actually, I always get sick before exams… It’s always the same. It’s like my body is saying chillax or something and my brain wants me to stop working. So I guess IB really is a hell of a place. No offense.

Friday night I ended up not going out, I just watched TV. Then on saturday I woke up really late, did the essay and at four I had to meet my handball team to drive for an hour to the hall we were gonna have a game in. It’s on that trip I got sick I think… But anyway, we played really got the first part, we were leading and then suddenly it was as though we all fell together and died or something in the second part. And we lost. They never let me play though! I played for 10 minutes all together! I’m sure thats why we lost, but at the same time it was probably because I didn’t go to practice for a week… I came back at 21.00 meaning I spent 5 hours to play 10 minutes of handball. GREAT. I don’t have time for that kind of stuff! Seriously! When I got home my parents weren’t there, they had left to some kind of party and I was left babysitting my sister and brother. I felt kinda bad and went to bed around 11.00.. At 01.00 I realized I still wasn’t sleeping, my parents weren’t home, so I got up, made a tea and wrote some stuff down for my Theatre Class. So I slept for about 3 hours altogether that night…

Right now I’m skyping with Sofia !! 🙂 Love her <3<3

I got my record card btw 🙂 It pretty good actually.

Today I woke up pretty late even if I didn’t really sleep, just lied there. When I woke up however, there was a hedgehog outside my window 🙂

It was really cute:

At 14.00 I had rehearsal like normal. I was really sick so that was kinda stressing.

Anyway, got home, ate got bored. I have started my Theatre Art Oral presentation and it feels like it won’t come to an end! I have to talk about the London trip for 10 minutes in a way that shows I’m experienced and professional… But fortunately my friend helped me out with my (bad) english 🙂

This is how I’m looking right now…

How sad.

Hope you’re feeling better ! Take lots of vitamins !! 🙂

Every man and woman has the right to have a friday night experience

Friday. My favorite day of the week! Even if there is school that day, I still think it is the best. School isn’t really that bad when you think about it. You mean lots of people and personally I like to learn and discover new things. And then you have the whole week-end to do homework, so no stress about that!

During PE today at school I worked out my arm mussels for the first time in my life. And also the first time I stretched there. It’s such a weird feeling when you first stretch a mussel you never knew you had! WOW. I was so shocked! My arm was trembling in the religion class after!

I’m starting to think about my Extended Essay… I can write about anything I want, but it has to be related to a school subject. Seriously, I can’t even imagine how many possibilities there are! I was going to do it in geography, but so many people are doing it in that subject… Maybe religion or theatre could be good to try? I really don’t have much experience with this, so do any-one have any good tips?

After school today I had the first dance rehearsal. A group of people (included me) decided to go together and make a dance team! So we found some songs and today we started some choreography. It’s so much fun! I recommend to do this in your school as well (if you like to dance, but of course every-one secretly does…) if there is no dance team already 🙂

Then I went home and had a chill time, took a shower, ate some dinner… Cosy cosy friday ❤ Later I’ll probably go out.

Back to Reality?

I don’t know whether I’m back to reality after that London trip. Seriously, it just feels so weird to be at school. It’s like this boring rhythm where you do the same thing everyday, you wake up, eat, go to school, work, eat, work, get home, work, do an activity, eat, work, sleep. And it really bores me ! London was so exciting and new things happened every day. I was looking forward at a new day at least!

But today we had a day off, so I got even more time to work… JEEEJJ!! FML. I had a geography assignment to do for last night, but I didn’t have time to do it so I did it today. It took me ages! Globalization… Bhutan… Seriously…. I thought I was never gonna stop working ! When I was done (around 17.00) I had to read a 17 pages long article for geography as well. About gender inequality and multiculturalism. It was discussing whether multiculturalism was bad for women… But I never understood the thesis, or what the author’s opinion actually was so I felt kinda stupid… Anyway, when I was done reading I figured we were going to have guests! GREAT! I love when my parents tell me what is happening in our house… It was this guy (and his wife) that helped building the house we have in France. It turned out pretty good actually… We usually go there every summer for a week or two 🙂 But anyway, those meals of course take hours and after that I had to read a chapter in The Great Gatsby. UGH. I have sooo much work you have no idea. The work is starting to come now… :/

But you probably wonder why there was no school today… Well, it’s because of parent teacher conferences. My parents went to school to talk with the teachers and it was mostly good comments apparently so it’s all good.

Yesterday I decided to go to the Halloween dance !! It was so much fun! But I really feel bad for my handball team, and what about the game on Saturday? Should I just turn up like that even if I didn’t go to practice in like two weeks !?! :/

Back from IB Taps !

I am so sorry I haven’t been blogging for the last week, but I went to London with my IB Theatre class. Such an experience !

So here’s the story:

After the PSAT tests wednesday morning (which were horribly boring btw, except I liked the math part; it was actually easy for once) my mum got Sophie and me to the train station in Braine L’Alleud (5 min from school) and there we met the rest of the people and the teacher and stuff. My theatre teacher and a spanish teacher were the only ones with us, and they were sooo chill for the whole trip, couldn’t have been better.

Anyway, we took the train from Braine to Bruxelles Midi to take the Eurostar. Everything went good and we got on the train. Two hours.

Finally we got to London and everyone got an Oyster Card to top up when we took the tube so that we didn’t need to buy a ticket every single time… It’s actually really expensive to take the tube, 4 pounds for a single ticket… Then we took the tube to Russel Square where our hotel was, National Royal, which was normal, but huge. There were soo many people there. They had Ben and Jerry’s if you like that so we ate it 24/7 😀

Then we went to the Peacock Theatre to see Traces. AMAZING.

It was a devised piece of Theatre performed by real athletes, or circus people at least. They had basketball, gymnastics, skateboard and even classical piano involved. The music also fitted in perfectly which made it amazing cause I really think music and rhythm is important in a performance. And they did acrobatic stuff I really hadn’t thought of, but it was not only a circus, there was a meaning behind it which I thought really topped it. There was also a hilarious scene were a girl sat in all kinds of positions in a chair while she was reading. It really reminded me of myself cause I also kinda have that urge to just move in all kind of weird positions when I sit still and read. Haha, might sound weird to you. Here are some clips from the show and what they do even though we saw a slightly different one with another cast.

We actually talked with the cast after the performance and the (only) girl was actually so much more different than what I thought she’d be like. Interesting.

Just before I ate at some weird sushi shop, but people wanted to eat after the play and we (Sophie and I) just followed them. Others went back to the hotel… We had a great little night out 🙂

The next day, Thursday, we had to register for the workshops and stuff. So we woke up around 8 to take a shower and stuff and went to the American church of London 09.45. That was the first time we met the other IB Theatre students ! We did some games all together, I can’t say how many we were… I’d say around 200 – 300, and we were the second group so TAPS actually started the week before… And I think there was another group after ours as well. But it’s kinda normal there are many people taking an International program and theatre in that program. And the trip is obligatory… Anyway we did some cool games to get into the rhythm and stuff. After about half an hour of that we were divided into smaller groups. There was three other people from St. Johns in my group so that was good. But bad as well I guess, but I met lots of new cool people. We all went to a big house with small rooms with mirrors, basically rehearsal halls. The first exercises we did was just to get together and to get to know each other a bit better. Personally I think we did way too much of that… I think you learn and get to work well with others when you devise a piece, meaning you have to create your own performance with other people. You have to take others opinions into consideration, understand that you can’t only think about yourself and you learn how the others in your group think and what they are like. Anyway, after the first two hours or something we had lunch … So of course I went to Starbucks that was just next door 🙂

After  that we started making a musical. I never thought we’d be able to make that in two hours, but we did. We learned this simple song that goes like this:

There are so many colours in the rainbow,
So many colours in the sky above.
There are so many colours in the rainbow,
And I love everyone.

And then we decided the elements of productions, so the stimulus, the audience, perimeters, concepts, transitions etc. Our musical was based on a poem, The Giving Tree by Sheldon Allan Silverstein, (http://oldpoetry.com/opoem/60911-Sheldon-Allan-Silverstein-The-Giving-Tree) and it’s about a tree and a boy that grows older. As he grows older he cuts down more and more of the tree and uses it to survive. Then we divided into small groups and found metaphors, themes and stage types. Then everyone wrote down a way of presenting the performance and based on this we found out wether you were more metaphoric, theme based or staging; I went to the staging group. I had this whole idea of having a big tree in the middle of the scene and the audience would not be on the ground but around the trunk of the tree. The tree would then be shrinking throughout the whole play. And the apples that grew on the tree would fall down and money would start to grow. This was obviously impossible to do with our little room were chairs was our only set… But each group was then set to make either part one, part two or part 3 of the musical. So we developed our idea. Then we had a pause and after that we did auditioning for the main characters. So we learned what we should ask for in an auditions and some people got to choose the main roles. Then we started putting the different parts together and match them. The teacher then made the transitions and without having gone through it once, we did a musical in front of two people in two hours ! Amazing in my opinion. But I learned a lot from that actually.

Later that day we were gonna watch Danton’s death. Must have been the most boring play in my life. We were actually gonna eat before, but we didn’t have time, so everyone was starving after. So basically after the workshop we went to the hotel, quickly changed and took the tube to the National Theatre. Pretty far away actually, but on the way we saw the London Eye, Big Ben and stuff.

The play was about Robespierre, Danton and the french revolution. Most boring thing I’ve ever seen. People were snoring next to me … But I guess it is easier to compare good and bad plays then … It was seriously monologue after monologue and the set never change. The cool effect was the lightning. You could tell by the lightning wether it was morning, night, day, evening, outside, in a prison or in a court. But it was still boring. After we went to eat in this really weird place, tourist clubbing area haha. Men everywhere asking you to go to their club. HELLO, I’m not 18 ! Then we went back to the hotel and got some drinks there and stuff. Hehe. Pretty fun actually.

The next day I was freakin tired ! Haha, deeaaaddd. And it was freezing in London ! We woke up, ate the British breakfeast, oh, and two of the guys came with Starbucks to our room and woke us up! How nice is that!! That was amazing! All guys should do that haha. So tip to all boyfriends out there, the girl will love you for it ! 😉

The workshop Friday was about Laban (a Norwegian candy brand actually), a theatre practitioner. He (or she?) said that characters can be divided into direct/indirect, sustainable/quick, strong/light. We had to put ourselves into the group we thought we were ourselves. I had a hard time. Seriously. I think it’s not really Jing or Jang. You change all the time according to whats around you! But I agree that it can help you to understand the character you are playing in a play. So we did some exercises on that. Then we did stage combat. We learned how to fake a slap, pull/throw people to the floor, hit people and take them by the hair. That was so much fun. I worked with really cool girl. Our scene was a girl talking to a guy in a phone and the other girl comes up slaps her, she asks who she is talking to and the other girl slaps her back. Then they have a mini conversation where they slap and hit each other and it was sooo funny cause we exaggerated it a little. In the end one of the girls threw the other to the floor and started taking her by the hair. Looked horrible. But it was still funny. And it was really funny to watch the others as well. Haha. I laugh when I think about it. When people fail horribly and you just see how bad their fake slap is it’s freakin HILARIOUS.

Yeah we did some other stuff during the six hours of the workshops as well but I can’t remember them so it must have been boring.

Then we quickly went back to the hotel, chilled in 10 minutes and went to take the tube to watch Tribes. It was a really really funny play. It took a lot of time to get there though. We had 40 minutes to eat over there, a place where there was nothing, before it started. I liked how it was set though.

It was about a family where one guy, Billy, was deaf. It started of soo funny, the father was swearing all the time and stuff, and you found yourself (at least I did) in the same family situation. They were all shouting at each other making jokes, insulting each other, making fun of each other, being selfish. I did some further research and apparently the shouting is just a way of expressing love. Personally I don’t get that. I never express love to my mother if I shout at her… And then in the end the deaf guy suddenly turned into a criminal (too complicated to explain how) and there was a huge change in the play. The last part of the play I didn’t really like that much cause I was so confused about what was going on. But I really think we need to show plays like that to the world today so that we can understand the real issues of the world TODAY, not the problems during the french revolution; we don’t care, that happened ages ago and it’s over !

Then we went back to the hotel and had another hotel party ! 🙂

Saturday was the last day of workshops and we did one on Stanislavsky (a theatre practitioner) and we made some games ourselves. In the Stanislavsky workshop we were introduced to his theory. We did a relaxing exercise, where everyone fell asleep, to “let out imagination go free”. I was pretending to understand it all so well haha. Pretending I got so imaginative after the exercise. And the guy really believed me. It was really funny. Then we did some exercises to develop our communication with other actors. We had to send a color to another person’s eye and the person would get a “pop” and have the same color as the person who sent it. Haha. Sounds really stupid, but it actually worked. In a way though. I’m not really sure it’s true. Then we had to think of a movement (i.e. a little scratch on your nose or something) and then looking in to another’s person eyes and the person would do the movement. Thats pretty crazy. Some people actually made it work. So what if you can think of an answer to a test and send the message to another person? I asked the guy and he didn’t even answer me. But I mean it’s as stupid as passing a movement. Crazy ideas the whole thing.

Then we had lunch, me and my friend ate at this really nice place, le Pain Quotidien 🙂 And this is what we saw from our window:

He was soo creepy, checking out girl on the street! Eew!

After the one hour lunch we just did some fun stuff where we created our own games. Then of course we quickly went back to the hotel and out again. Time for Jersey Boys!! OMG what a musical ! I looooved it. In the end Sophie and I were singing like crazy, I just loved the songs!

It was amazing except we had the seat at the very back! we couldn’t see the faces of the actors and that made it boring sometimes. But the choreography, the costumes, the music was amazing. An enjoyable entertaining performance I’d say. Before that though I ate at an Italian restaurant. I love Italian food ! But something weird happened. There was two men sitting t a table next to us, and suddenly we realized they had just left ! There was still food in their plates and their glass of beer was full ! I was really amazed, we actually still have people like that in our society !?! But when I think about it, it’s actually really easy to do it. It must be a big fear of the restaurant.

Then it was saturday meaning no workshop the day after !!

Sunday we were supposed to wake up early to go to oxford street, but we got up at 11 instead :p Well well, but the problem was that we were going to see The Lion Kings at 15.00. We directly went to TopShop and stayed there in two hours cause then we had to get to Leceister Theatre in some way. When we got there we found out the play was actually starting at 14.30 and it was 14.25 … So luckily we were on time at least 🙂 The Lion King is an amazing show, but again we were all the way in the back! So we lost the beginning scene when all the animals come in and again we can’t see the face of the actors. I do however love the costumes, the music and the choreography. I was a bit disappointed by the voice of the younger actors in the play, playing Zimba when young… But I guess it’s pretty hard ! Then we went a little more shopping around Covent Garden and ate some dinner. We went back to the hotel and partied a bit more as it was the last night !

Met some random Swedish guys…

Monday we were gonna check out at 10, and I had my horrible alarm at 8 !! Hahaha that was hilarious, my roommates got pisseeed 😀 But then we got the news that the check out was at 11… Great ! But I went to buy some souvenirs to my sister and some magazines 🙂 Then we went to the V&A museum to look at the Theatre and Performance section. There was some really cool things there:

We also had private screening of A disappearing Number by Complicite… A really complicated devised piece hehe, but I bet live it would be much, much better. The sound of the movie and the filming was HORRIBLE. Which made it really boring to watch. But the concepts in it were really interesting. There was a woman that was really passionate about math, and she was always saying it’s the only thing that is real and it follows a certain patter. And this kinda reflects on life that maybe has a certain pattern. And there was projections everywhere, on the floor, on the walls, everywhere ! And there was this Indian sound rhythm going through the whole play like tagatagadam tagatagadam etc.  Really interesting. Then we had to leave to go back to the hotel and we left London! 😦

There was actually a train strike in Belgium just when we were going to leave, but our train was the only one that went, exceptionally, and that was just sooo lucky! So I got back monday night at 11.00 ! You can’t imagine how tired I was !

I went to bed at 01.00 that night. As well as yesterday… I had, and have sooo much work! Need to catch up for school and do plenty of assignments. But at least I don’t have school tomorrow… Parent teacher conferences. And tonight there is also a halloween dance at school. But I have handball practice at the same time! I don’t know what to choose! I haven’t been to handball practice for a week, but at the same time halloween dance is only once a year… We’ll see 🙂

Outfits of the last days:

This post took me one whole afternoon to write so I hope you enjoyed it! Now I’ve got to do so much work!

Have a lovely wednesday everyone ! Halfway through the week!

French manicure

Yep, I’m going to London tomorrow, but french manicure is still the key. You might think it takes forever so you can’t bother to do it, but I have a magic pen….

I had no school today ! I wasted my day actually 😦 Last night I went out and had A LOT of fun. Actually one of the best nights this year. I was with some cool people, chill people. The bars were not overcrowded and we were having an awesome time. Got home at around 2… sooo thats why i woke up at 11 today too tired to do anything… UGH. But I packet my bag for London and stuff. Did no homework… UGH again. but I had a handball game which was awesome I think. The trainer thought it was the worst game of the season. I even scored !! haha.

So that is my little day basically. I’m really stressed.

aaaah I just killed one of those poor little insects with super long legs and wingss !!! 😦

Anyway, tomorrow I have to go to school in the morning to take PSAT tests… Which sucks, they are only for people that want to apply for the US and I’m not gonna do that so it’s such a waste of time… Then I have to go directly to the train station to Bruxelles-Midi, then take the Eurostar to London!! It’s with the drama class at school… We’re gonna watch lots of plays and do workshops with all the students taking IB Theatre Arts!!! So that’s gonna be awesome 🙂

I’ll try to blog when I’m there, I’m bringing my little mini netbook 🙂 hopefully there is internet at the hotel…

I should really go sleep now !

Goodnight ! (hopefully you’re already asleep… except if you live on the other side of the world or something)
